The Parking Situation at the Shybary Grand |
| Developer Barry Shy Privately Owns Shybary Grand's In-Building Parking Garage I bought a loft at the Shybary Grand and was told by the bulding's realtor that and I could purchase parking in the building separately for $150 a month since it wasn't part of the homeowners association. When I came to purchase parking for the first time after having lived in the building for 2 years, they told me I had to pay them for 2 years of unused parking, $3600. This was not disclosed to me at the time of my loft purchase. In fact the office confirmed these rules didn't even exist anywhere in writing. Does it seem strange that someone who owns a loft in the building cannot park in their own building without paying an exhorbitant fee, while new renters moving in can come and go in the parking garage as they please without these same fees? There seem to be quite a few unsued spots in the garage. When asked, the management company could not produce any kind of written parking agreement illustrating these retroactive parking fees. However, after all my asking, they did seem to invent this Parking Agreement around June 30, 2008, and even it states nothing about the retroactive fees. Seems those in charge are capitalizing on the fact that a homeowner is already locked into the building and has no choice but to pay an exhorbitant fee in order to park in their own building, while a renter doesn't seem to face these same fees - maybe because they know a renter is not going to rent from them if they can't park in the building, and a renter can just instead walk away and rent somewhere else, and is not locked in like a homeowner is.
